The gurus' view on the countdown to Erik ten Hag's future at Manchester United

A dismal 3-0 defeat at Old Trafford by Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday has left Manchester United 12 th place in the premier League table with just seven points from their first six games.

Of course, Manchester United ‘s disappointing performance since the start of the 2024-2025 season has made the future of Dutch coach Erik ten Hag a big issue that will be discussed again. Whether he should be given the chance to continue working or not.

Ten Hag came under immense pressure last season. After United’s inconsistent eighth-place finish in the league, but his FA Cup triumph was a key reason new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe decided to keep him in charge.

However, the performance in the last game against Spurs was the worst, both in terms of the โปรโมชั่น ufabet game, which was inferior despite having the same 11 players, and after Bruno Fernandes, the team captain, was sent off, Man United were not in their own game at all in the second half.

Former Manchester United and Leicester City midfielder Robbie Savage , now a pundit, told the BBC: “I think they (the board) have a big decision to make this week. I think his time may be up.”

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville added: “It was one of the worst performances I’ve seen under Ten Hag and that’s showing something. It’s really bad. I was shocked today at how far they’ve fallen.”

Former Liverpool and Spurs midfielder Harry Redknapp added: “I can’t see how he (Ten Hag) can keep his job as manager. He’s lost his way and I don’t see how he can turn things around.”

“He should be rested. I don’t see how he can lead this team to success. The only problem is, I don’t know who is the right person for the job. It’s a very difficult job.”

Former Manchester United defender Phil Jones said: “I see it as an ex-player, they are struggling. Their pressing is too slow on the ball and they leave too much space. It’s difficult for Man United. There are no players who don’t try. They want to perform but it’s difficult. But they have to find a way to come back and change quickly.”

“The players have to try to fix it, even if it means talking to each other. But they are still in a difficult period and there are more difficult games coming up.”

After the game, there was no comment from the Manchester United board about Ten Hag’s future. He himself is still confident that he will have the opportunity to continue working. But from the overall picture, it may be time to count down for the 54-year-old coach.
